It’s time to put your entrepreneurial dreams into reality. You’ve set your goals and established your motivation for your business. You have your why.
Now is the time to think, read, write, ask, study, question everything, and start piecing it all together. I am big believer in research and homework. The information is out there–access it! Research other entrepreneurs and what led to their successes and failures (podcasts and books are a great way to start). Learn from them. Study your industry and come up with a fresh twist. Develop a plan, even a loose one, of your business and goals. List your obstacles and how to overcome them. In other words, prepare! This is a big leap and you need a road map.
Would you build a plane and then fly it immediately? Of course not. You would go back through and check every component to make sure that plane wouldn’t fall from the sky. I once heard a self-proclaimed entrepreneur tell me, “I will fix the plane on the way down.”
I made a note to never, ever, fly with that guy!
Problems, challenges, obstacles, and fires will happen in all businesses. But if you’ve done your homework, you will know who to go to for help and you will be able to remain calm at even the most dire times. And at the end of the day, you will have a business that came from your vision, your entrepreneurial dreams.
So, it’s time to take off. Just remember to make sure your landing gear works.
