TikTok agency | Short-form video production
TikTok is a global phenomenon. Think those are just words? Insider Intelligence predicts that by the year 2025, TikTok will have over 955 million monthly users!
Okay, now those are just numbers. You might be saying, yeah, only kids use TikTok. That was the case (for the most part). But like Facebook, Instagram, and other social media giants, they all aged up. That trend isn’t stopping. TikTok has already aged up and it will continue.
The point is TikTok is a force. If it wasn’t a force would the other largest companies in the world flat-out copy it? YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and Facebook Reels are essentially the same thing as TikTok. TikTok is the innovator and they own the algorithm. YouTube Shorts is making moves too. This is great considering if you make TikTok videos, those same videos (or something close to it) could be repurposed on YouTube Shorts (and Instagram Reels). Short-form videos work.
The issue when starting a new account on a new social media platform is it takes time to build an audience. This is a fact. The beauty of TikTok (and most short-form video platforms) is the virality (it’s a word). Instead of only seeing content from those you follow (you’ll see some of that too), you will now see the content you are interested in no matter if you follow that account or not. Yes, there are side-effects to this like being shown the same political agenda-driven content over and over, but there’s the positive of your content now having a chance to be seen even if no one follows you. That’s the attention and content-based algorithm that TikTok employs and that the other social media platforms have taken notice of. And even if that doesn’t work, know that TikTok is fast eating Google’s search lunch. More people every day are going to TikTok for their search needs. So it’s not just the algorithm (although the algorithm is a beast), it’s also the search functionality. And the paid advertising, and, and, and…
So we can all agree to some level that TikTok is a big deal. And that short-form video is having an impact. Now we might also agree that snippets and highlights often miss the context. Yes, we love a nice long-form podcast, or book, or hour-plus-long video. But sometimes we need a trailer or a compelling thought or a quick (here’s that word) snippet. Because it works. If we hear a great snippet (let’s say it’s 60 seconds long), that might compel us to listen to your podcast where that snippet came from. You see how that works.
